Business Background

Ron Hirasawa is an entrepreneur and general manager. His career encompasses 30 years of starting new companies and working in almost every management position, including marketing, sales, new product development, operations and customer service.

He has worked for small companies, including a family catering business and retail clothing. He has worked for large companies, in sales, marketing, and advertising for P&G, Johnson Wax, United Brands, Leo Burnett, and Don Tennant companies. He started American Marketing Services Corporation, a consulting company specializing in instore point of purchase promotions.

Mr. Hirasawa created a $100 million Midwest regional snack foods entity with the merger and acquisition of three companies. Ron has exported food products to Japan and other countries. He has advised Fortune 500 companies on doing business with the Japanese for the past 10 years.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict, reaching the rank of Captain.

Educational Background

Undergraduate degree: B.S. in Industrial Management from the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA.

Graduate Degree: MBA in Marketing from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, TX.

Teaching Experience

  • Professor at the Lake Forest Graduate School of Management, where he lectures on Marketing, Entrepreneurship, International Marketing, Strategic Management, Innovation, and Leadership.
  • Developed customer service workshops for small businesses, including Intermark Transport, a freight broker.
  • Developed seminars and presented for Abbott Labs, TAP Pharmaceuticals, Takeda Pharmaceuticals, in strategy, and Japanese culture & business practices .
